These chimneys, that can be seen in many shapes, are a unique feature of the Algarve’s culture. They are a symbol of five centuries of Moorish occupation.

The chimneys are a typical feature in the houses of this region. They were embellished with many symbols of folk art and the place and date of the construction were inscribed on them.

They were proof of the Stoneman’s skill and object of pride for any owner, considering that they are one of a kind.
