Surgido em Portugal em finais do séc. XVIII com o culto do Sagrado Coração de Jesus, o coração de Viana é a mais emblemática peça da tradição Vianense .

Na antiguidade clássica o coração representava o centro da vida, da solidariedade, da fraternidade e amor, sendo estas as características mais salientes na vida dos santos, daí o povo gostar de o usar ao peito como símbolo sagrado.

Trabalhados em filigrana e geralmente em ouro, são peças delicadas e de grande beleza que passam gerações de pais para filhos.

O Coração de Viana é hoje um dos símbolos de Portugalidade. 

It appeared in Portugal at the end of the XVIII century with the worshiping of The Sacred Heart of Jesus, the heart of Viana is the most iconic item of Viana’s tradition.

On the classical antiquity the heart represented the centre of life, of solidarity, brotherhood and love, being these features more protruding on the saint's lives, therefore the locals wear it on their chest.

Made in Filigree, usually in gold, they are beautiful and delicate pieces that are passed generations from parents to childrens.

The Heart of Viana is today one of Portugal’s biggest symbols.
